Who We Are

The Cyber and Social Media Unit (CSMU) serves as a vital support system for Trinidad and Tobago Police Service investigators in technology-driven cases. Primarily functioning as an intelligence-gathering arm, the unit also offers analytical perspectives crucial to investigative processes. Its specialized expertise extends to providing technological support across the entirety of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service. Comprising trained police officers, the CSMU specializes in probing crimes occurring online or facilitated through digital devices. Their focus lies in addressing and investigating cyber-related offenses effectively.

What We Do

  • Provide detailed reports for investigations involving digital evidence within overall cases.
  • Employ forensic tools and investigative techniques to locate electronic data. Aid investigators in data analysis and determining its relevance to ongoing cases.
  • Utilize approved and accredited mobile forensic tools for data extraction, analysis, and reporting from mobile devices.
  • Recover various forms of data (documents, emails, photos, videos, user data) from diverse digital storage media, including corrupted, deleted, encrypted, or manipulated files on computers, laptops, and mobile devices.
  • Conduct research, analysis, and investigations related to cybercrimes and online criminal activities through social media platforms
