Who We Are

In accordance with Section 123A (1), subject to Section 123 (1), of the Constitution (Amendment) Act, 2006, of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago,  the Commissioner of Police shall have the complete power    to manage the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service and is required to ensure the human, financial and material resources available to the Service, are used in an efficient and effective manner. Based on this authority, the Commissioner of Police manages the human resources   of the Service and provides relevant services under the portfolio of the Human Resource Management Unit.

What We Do

The Human Resource Management Unit carries out the following Human Resource functions:-

  • Contract Employment
  • Performance Management Appraisal System (PMAS)
  • Absence Management (inclusive of Casual/Sick/ Vacation Leave)
  • Training (Local and Overseas) and Development
  • Employee Relations/ Industrial Relations
  • Transfers
  • Probationers’ Reports
  • Promotions
  • Examinations
  • Departmental Orders/Standing Orders
  • Separations
  • Management of the Firearms Unit
  • Supplemental Police
